1.4 Butanediol seized in Maribyrnong

Westgate Divisional Response Unit officers have charged a man following an investigation into the importation of drugs.

A warrant was executed at an address on Primary Place on 30 August where 25 litres of 1.4 Butanediol was seized.

Earlier in the month police were called to a business on Williamstown Road in Maidstone after reports a suspect package addressed to someone else had been delivered there.

The package is alleged to have contained bottles of 1.4 Butanediol.

A total of 35 litres were seized with an estimated street value of over $100,000.

A 36-year-old Maribyrnong man was arrested and has been charged with two counts of trafficking a commercial quantity of 1.4 Butanediol, commit an indictable offence whilst on bail, possess prohibited weapon without an exemption and other drug offences.

He was remanded overnight and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.
