The Albanese Government's Cheaper Home Batteries program has now helped more than 100,000 households and small businesses cut their power bills and take control of their energy, with 2 gigawatt-hours of storage now installed across Australia.

The 2 GWh of battery storage delivered through the program in less than 4 months has increased home battery capacity in Australia by more than 50 per cent.

From outer-suburban communities like Western Sydney, Ipswich and Geelong, to regional towns like Lismore, Mount Barker and Beaudesert, Australians are leading the charge in storing renewable energy and lowering their energy costs.

Our Cheaper Home Batteries program is part of the Albanese Government's plan to deliver cleaner, fairer, more reliable energy system, including for the nearly 1,000 households in Greenway who have cut their bills for good by installing a Cheaper Home Battery.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen:

"Australia is a solar nation - with the highest rate of rooftop solar anywhere in the world. Our program takes the next step, delivering a game changer for household bills.

"In just four months, 100,000 Aussie families have jumped at the opportunity to slash their energy bills for good by installing a Cheaper Home Battery.

"This is what delivering a fairer and more reliable energy system looks like; practical action that cuts bills and cuts emissions for good."

Quotes attributable to the Attorney-General, Michelle Rowland:

"In communities across North West Sydney, families are seeing the benefits of batteries firsthand, using more of their own solar power, lowering their energy bills and doing their bit for the environment."

"This is not a story of the inner city; it's a story of the outer suburbs and the regions leading the way on cheaper, cleaner energy."

"In Greenway alone, almost a thousand households are already part of this change, showing that practical, affordable clean energy is happening right here in our local community."
