$120K Boost: First Nations Girls Aim High

The Lott

Celebrating their 10th year of providing holistic mentoring programs for First Nations girls and young women, the Stars Foundation shines brighter than ever thanks to a $120,000 donation from The Lott by Tatts NT community fund.

Since 2019, The Lott by Tatts NT has proudly partnered with the Stars Foundation, with this year's funding bringing the total to more than $700,000.

These donations have helped the Stars Foundation deliver 73 school programs across Australia, empowering Indigenous girls and young women to reach their full potential at school and beyond.

Today, the Stars Foundation is supporting around 4,000 students - 14 times more than when their mission started 10 years ago. More than 90% of senior students are now completing Year 12 studies each year, with around 85% successfully transitioning into the workforce or commencing higher education within six months after graduating.

Stars Foundation Founder and CEO, Andrea Goddard, said she was grateful for the generous support of The Lott by Tatts NT in helping close the gap, with First Nations girls and young women granted opportunities to better their lives and pursue their aspirations.

"At the heart of the Stars Foundation is our commitment to ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women have the same opportunities as boys, with direct access to mentors and education programs that are built around culture, community, and wellbeing," Andrea Goddard said.

"Funding through partnerships allows us to continue offering holistic, wrap-around support that equip our students with the tools to succeed at school and make active choices about their future."

Partnerships Manager for The Lott by Tatts Liz McPherson said she was proud to create a lasting impact among First Nations communities.

"We understand that education breeds resilience and it gives us great satisfaction knowing our support is helping First Nations girls and young women take charge of their futures, not only for themselves, but also for their families and their communities," Liz McPherson said.
