Rockhampton Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) detectives have charged 14 people following the conclusion of an eight-month operation into the alleged trafficking and supply of dangerous drugs in Central Queensland.
Operation Xray Urbane, which concluded this week, targeted the distribution of cocaine and MDMA across the Rockhampton region.
Throughout the course of the investigation, police executed 14 search warrants, resulting in the seizure of approximately 2 kilograms of cocaine, 309 grams of MDMA, and $120,210 in cash.
Police also seized three vehicles allegedly used in the commission of crime or purchased with the proceeds of crime, including a Toyota Landcruiser utility, a Chevrolet C10 vintage utility, and a Hyundai Veloster.
Police will allege two men were the principal offenders in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs in the area.
A 37-year-old Rockhampton man has been charged with 13 offences including one count of trafficking in dangerous drugs (serious organised crime), six counts of supplying dangerous drugs, four counts of possessing dangerous drugs (exceeding schedule), and two counts of possessing tainted property.
A 33-year-old Rockhampton man has been charged with five offences, including two counts of possessing dangerous drugs (exceeding schedule), and one count each of trafficking in dangerous drugs (serious organised crime), possessing dangerous drugs, and possessing tainted property.
Both men appeared in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on 11 March and were remanded in custody to reappear at a later date.
In total, 14 people have been charged with 32 offences including trafficking, supply, and possession of dangerous drugs.
Rockhampton CIB Officer in Charge, Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin Mawdsley, said the operation's conclusion should serve as a warning to those involved in the illicit drug trade.
"For eight months, we have focused on dismantling a syndicate that was profiting from the distribution of dangerous drugs in our community," Detective Senior Sergeant Mawdsley said.
"The seizure of nearly two kilograms of cocaine and significant quantities of cash and assets strikes a blow to the profitability of these illegal activities. We remain committed to targeting those who profit from the harm these drugs cause, and we will continue to use every resource available to keep the Rockhampton community safe."
