14-year-old girl charged after house fire near Armidale, NSW

A girl has been charged after allegedly starting a fire in the New England region last night, NSW Police say.

About 8.40pm (Tuesday 15 May 2018), emergency services were called to Bundarra Road, Invergowrie, about 20km west of Armidale, after reports a property was on fire.

The fire was extinguished by Fire & Rescue NSW; however, the house was extensively damaged.

Police were told a 14-year-old girl allegedly assaulted two people and damaged two vehicles at the property, before starting the fire.

The girl was arrested at the scene by officers from the New England Police District and taken to Armidale Police Station.

She was charged with common assault (x3), malicious damage to motor vehicle (x2), and damage property by fire.

The girl was granted bail and will appear at a children’s court on Thursday 7 June 2018.
