$15 million for Indigenous languages and arts

Grant funding is being provided to community-based organisations to develop the diverse range of projects celebrating Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander cultures and history through languages and arts.

Using new mediums and digital tools to engage current and future generations, the projects will be delivered around Australia and include Indigenous language revival and maintenance, theatre, visual arts, film and digital resources.

Of the estimated 250 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages, about 120 are still spoken but most of these remain in danger of being lost.

The Indigenous Languages and Arts program supports eligible organisations to deliver languages and arts projects through an annual grant funding round.
