1.5 million placements through jobactive

The Australian Government's commitment to help more people into work is on track with the achievement of 1.5 million placements under its national employment service, jobactive.

Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, said it shows that the Government's strategies for jobs and the economy is working.

"I am delighted to announce jobactive providers have achieved over 1.5 million job placements since July 2015.

"jobactive is also working well for Australian businesses who are looking to hire more staff.

"On top of this, the recent labour force figures underscore the continued strength and resilience of the Australian labour market - employment has increased every month for the last three years.

"This is the greatest number of consecutive monthly increases in employment recorded since the inception of the monthly labour force series in February 1978."

Minister Cash said the Government will harness this success by transforming the employment services model to further empower job seekers who are job-ready and prioritise support for those who face the greatest barriers.

"Our economy, workplaces and jobs are being transformed by technology, so we are designing an employment service system that better responds to the future of work and our changing economy.

"When we took office, we pledged to create 1.25 million jobs over the next five years. We will continue to pursue this long-term agenda, so we can provide employers and industry with highly skilled job-ready workers and further strengthen our economy."
