Roses are red, and so too were the numbers on an Aspley couple's winning entry! With $1.2 million landing in their bank account soon, the Brisbane sweethearts now have home ownership in sight.
"We came home late Saturday night, and I was just in the lounge room early Sunday morning when I thought I'd check my ticket," the winning man explained.
"I could see all the numbers were red on one line of my ticket. I'd marked the first three lines of my ticket with our combined family birthdates.
"We're first home buyers and have been house hunting for a while. Now we don't have to worry about a mortgage at all!
"It's amazing timing. It's just changed our lives."
Cupid's arrow flies to Adelaide
Meanwhile, Happy Valley just got happier after a local woman uncovered her $1.2 million win from the weekend's X Lotto draw.
"We still don't really believe it. I just keep checking the ticket," she cried.
"There are my special numbers that I play each week. I've been playing these for over five years. Some numbers are family birthdays, others are just randomly picked.
"It's going to change our lives. We're going to be very sensible and set ourselves up for the future.
"I also want to use some of the money to bless others as well."
Better than a Christmas raffle
A Newcastle dad was left in shock after his Saturday Lotto ticket delivered a division one dream.
"Are you kidding me? I've won $1.2 million? I can't believe it! I thought it was a scam! I just kept thinking, 'Why should I read this information out to you?'" he cried.
"I initially believed I hadn't won anything because when I checked my online account earlier, I saw $53, but it turned out that was just my account balance!
"This is the best news! I can't believe it!
"I have a funny story. I've never been lucky, and I never win anything! But on Christmas Eve, I bought a TV and it automatically entered me into this raffle, and I won $100,000!"
