17-year-old arrested for series of break-ins, SA

The first break-in occurred sometime between 11.30pm Monday 10 and 6.30am Tuesday 11 April a home on Caroline Drive, Paralowie, was broken into and laptop, id cards, car keys and Subaru wagon which was parked in the driveway stolen. The victim was home at the time of the break-in but was not confronted, according to SA Police.

Also sometime between 11.30pm Monday 10 and 4.40am Tuesday 11 April a Riverwalk Place, Parafield Gardens, home was broken into and two cars at the property were interfered with but does not appear that anything was stolen. The victim was home at the time of the break-in but was not confronted.

About 5.20am Tuesday 11 April, a Rundle Drive, Parafield Gardens home was broken into. The elderly female occupant disturbed the intruder who ran from the house after stealing a handbag. Thankfully the woman was not physically injured.

At 7.30pm Tuesday 11 April following an investigation, police from the Elizabeth CIB Tactical team, attended a Paralowie home and arrested a 17-year-old youth who has been charged with a number of offences including three counts of aggravated serious criminal trespass, three counts of theft, dishonestly manipulate a machine, misuse motor vehicle, two counts of illegal interference and breach of bail.

The boy was refused police bail and appeared in court today where he was remanded in custody. To reappear in the Adelaide Youth Court on 27 April.

- Install a quality security screen door to the front and rear doors
- Do not leave valuables in obvious places
- Vehicle keys should be stored out of view and away from external doors and windows
- Consider installing a safe
- Lock your vehicle doors and close windows
- Install and activate an alarm or immobiliser on your vehicle
- Remove all valuables from your vehicle
- Do not leave spare keys hidden in or around your vehicle
- If your vehicle is left at home make sure you have the keys with you.
