2 Drivers Caught Speeding in Road Work Areas on Midland Hwy

Police are urging motorists to slow down and obey road-work speed zones after two drivers were detected speeding on the Midland Highway.

At 11:20am yesterday, members of Road Policing Services detected a driver speeding at 88km/h in the signed 40km/h road-work zone at Midland Highway at Ross. Road workers were actively working in the area at the time the offence was detected. The driver will be issued with a four month licence disqualification period, a $1040.75 fine, and a loss of 6 demerit points.

In a separate incident, another driver was detected the same day driving at 96km/h in a 60km/h road-work zone on the Midland Highway at Oatlands. The driver will be issued with a $543 fine, and a loss of 5 demerit points.

Police urge motorists to obey all speed signs, particularly in road-work related areas, and keep our road-workers safe. Pay attention and plan ahead for road-works.
