2 Weeks Left To Nominate For 2026 Murray Australia Day Awards

Murray River Council

There's only 2 weeks left for residents to nominate in Murray River Council's 2026 Australia day Awards.

Residents and community members are encouraged to nominate individuals or groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the local community.

Murray River Council Mayor, Cr John Harvie said the awards provide a great platform to recognise the contributions that many individuals and groups make to the local community every year.

"Australia Day provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge those who have made personal achievements in a range of pursuits including sports, the arts or education."

"Australia Day is also an opportunity to acknowledge those individuals who volunteer so much of their time to ensure community services, sporting events and other important activities continue to prosper across our council area," Cr Harvie said.

Nominations are currently being accepted for seven award categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Young Sportsperson of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year
  • Community Group of the Year
  • Arts/Cultural Award (person or group)

Nominations can be completed via Council's Your Say platform: www.yoursay.murrayriver.nsw.gov.au

Nominations close 31 October 2025.

The Awards will be presented on Australia Day, 26 January 2026.

"I would encourage people to nominate and get involved. What better way to let people know about their valued contribution to our local area,' Cr Harvie said.
