$20 Million For Childhood Mental Health Research

Up to $20 million is available under the MRFF's 2025 Childhood Mental Health Research grant opportunity to bring evidence-based preventions and treatments into practice. There are three topics of funding:

  • Topic A: research that improves the mental health of First Nations children. Research will be led by First Nations researchers and include the meaningful involvement of First Nations communities.
  • Topic B: the organisation undertaking the majority of the research is based in any area according to the Modified Monash Model locator (MM1-7).
  • Topic C: the following are primarily based in a regional, rural or remote area according to the Modified Monash Model locator (MM2-7):
    • the organisation undertaking the majority of the research
    • the Chief Investigator A and 50 per cent or more of all Chief Investigators
    • all research participants.

This is the second grant opportunity under the $50 million MRFF Childhood Mental Health Research Plan.

Funding is from the MRFF's Emerging Priorities and Consumer-Driven Research initiative.
