Bidding is now open for the 2020 Offshore Petroleum Exploration Acreage Release. Companies have the opportunity to bid on release areas until Tuesday 1 June 2021.
The acreage release comprises 42 areas across 5 basins offshore:
- Northern Territory
- Western Australia
- Victoria
- Territory of Ashmore and Cartier Islands
All areas are available for work-program bidding.
This year's release is dominated by areas in established oil and gas provinces with existing infrastructure. This ensures we can continue to deliver long-term energy supply for all Australians into the future.
The resources sector is a key part of our economy and is well positioned to help the Australian economy recover from the pandemic.
