2022 Tasmanian Nursing and Midwifery Symposium and Awards

Jeremy Rockliff, Minister for Health

Tasmanian nurses and midwives are essential to delivering quality health care to the community.

Tonight, nurses and midwives from across the public and private sectors will come together to celebrate and showcase innovation and research in their fields at the 2022 Tasmanian Nursing and Midwifery Symposium.

Now in its fourth year, the Symposium provides a platform to recognise the outstanding work and achievements of Tasmanian nurses and midwives across all areas of the health sector.

The Symposium will recognise leadership, commitment and dedication to keep our communities safe, showcase innovation in healthcare delivery and inspire Tasmanian nurses and midwives to explore the possibilities of their practice and impact they can make.

I recognise the critical role that our nursing and midwifery workforceplay within the Tasmanian healthcare system, and thank all of our valued nurses and midwives for the high-quality care they provide to the Tasmanian community.

In particular, I recognise the strong leadership nurses and midwives have shown and their flexibility in managing and responding to the unique challenges posed during the pandemic response.

Following the Symposium, the outstanding achievements of Tasmania's nurses and midwives will be recognised and celebrated at the Tasmanian Public Sector Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.
