2025 Maggie Awards For Excellence In Mental Health Services

Tasmanian Government

The winners of the 2025 Maggie Awards have been announced, recognising staff excellence within Statewide Mental Health Services.

The Maggie Awards was launched in 2023 and is celebrated every two years, in recognition of the exceptional efforts of staff members and their outstanding contributions to the service.

The awards are named in part to honour the late Dr Margaret Tobin, who was an inspirational and internationally renowned leader, and recognises the symbolism of the magnolia flower, representing perseverance, dignity, strength, compassion, dedication and commitment.

This year there were 142 individual nominations submitted across the five awards categories – Emerging Leader, Clinical Excellence, Lifetime Achievement, Team Member and Maggie Qualities.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, was pleased to be a part of this year's awards, attending the event in the North last night to celebrate with the finalists and winners in the region.

"The Maggie Awards rightly honour the outstanding contributions of staff within Statewide Mental Health Services, not only for the care they provide to consumers, but also for their commitment to the service more broadly," Minister Archer said.

"The awards evidence the depth of excellence, compassion, and commitment to improving the care and treatment provided to our consumers – and that is something to celebrate in its own right.

"I had the great pleasure in presenting the awards to the worthy recipients here in the North, recognising their outstanding achievements within the service.

"I would like to congratulate all the nominees and winners and, of course, thank all staff across the mental health system for the care provided around our state each and every day.

"As Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, I'm proud that we have such a skilled workforce dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of Tasmanians."
