Over 60 unique artworks focusing on waste, sustainability and the environment have been shortlisted in Hornsby Shire Council's 2025 Remagine Art Prize. The finalist works of Digital Stills, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Ceramics, Painting, Drawing, Photography and Printmaking will be on exhibition at the Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, Hornsby from 13 June to 29 June.
Hosted by Hornsby Shire Council in partnership with Hornsby Art Society since 2009, the Remagine Art Prize challenges artists to create works in response to the global waste crisis. This year's theme, RE:THINK TO RE:PURPOSE, challenged artists to explore the impact of waste production and creatively reuse materials to help conserve our precious natural resources.
"I would like to congratulate all the finalists for their inspiring and thought-provoking artworks that encourage us to rethink waste through their art," said Hornsby Shire Mayor Warren Waddell. "The artists have captured the importance of reuse and repurposing materials beautifully through their outstanding expressions."
"Hornsby Shire Council is committed to preserving our beautiful natural environment for future generations and the Remagine Art Prize emphasises how we can find creative ways to repurpose old items, whether in art or life, to build a more sustainable community."
This year's esteemed judges are curator Rhonda Davis and artist Marina DeBris. A total of $11,000 in prize money is on offer. Winners will be announced at an award ceremony on Friday 13 June.
The Remagine Art Prize 2025 finalist exhibition will be on show at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, 25 Edgeworth David Avenue, Hornsby, from 13 June to 29 June 2025, Tuesday–Sunday, 10am–4pm.
