2026 Australia Day Award Winners Announced

Moama's Alexandra and Geoffrey Kent are Murray River Council's joint Citizens of the Year as council this week announced its award recipients for 2026.

Six individuals and groups have been honoured for their contribution to the local community:

Citizen of the Year: Alexandra and Geoffrey Kent, Moama

Sportsperson of the Year: Kate Downward, Moama

Young Sportsperson of the Year: Mila Gray, Moulamein

Arts and Culture Award: Caldwell Hall Management Committee

Community Event of the Year: Winter Blues Festival Inc

Community Group of the Year: Goodnight Recreation Reserve and Hall Committee

Murray River Council Mayor, Cr John Harvie congratulated all award recipients and nominees, recognising their outstanding contribution to the community.

Award recipients will be formally presented with their awards at local Australia Day breakfasts on 26 January.
