A by-election has been officially called for the federal electorate of Farrer. Voting is compulsory for all eligible, enrolled voters residing within the Farrer electorate.

If you are voting in person, there are several convenient options located within the Wentworth Shire.

Early Voting

If you cannot make it to a polling place on by-election day, you may be eligible to vote early.

  • Buronga: Midway Community Centre, 3 Midway Dr (Wheelchair accessible)
    • Note: Early voting opens Tuesday, 28 April. Early voting centres are closed on the ANZAC Day public holiday and Sunday, 3 May.

By-election Day (Saturday, 9 May 2026)

You can vote at any polling place in the Farrer electorate on by-election day. The following polling places are located within the Wentworth Shire:

  • Buronga: Midway Community Centre, 3 Midway Dr (Wheelchair accessible)
  • Dareton: Dareton Public School, 49 Matong St (Assisted wheelchair access)
  • Pooncarie: Pooncarie Public Hall, 40 Tarcoola St (Assisted wheelchair access)
  • Wentworth: Wentworth Public School, 93-107 Darling St (Wheelchair accessible)

Alternative Voting Options

Postal Voting If you are unable to vote in person, postal voting is available. Applications for postal votes are currently open and must be submitted to the AEC by 6pm on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.

Accessible Voting Voters living with a disability can cast their vote via post or can vote with assistance at a polling place. Telephone voting is also available for individuals who are blind or have low vision.
