Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Education and Training

A steady stream of skilled workers is central to Tasmania's economic growth and social wellbeing.

To support a skilled and productive workforce the Government is investing an additional $2.9 million to get more Tasmanians into work.

The Skills Fund program is now open and supports skills development for job seekers, existing workers and volunteers.

The $2.9 million investment will help fill skills needs identified by industry, and give people access to vocational education so they can retrain into new careers or obtain employment.

Funding is targeted at training programs for priority industry sectors including tourism and hospitality, building and construction, advanced manufacturing, ICT, aged and disability services, agriculture and aquaculture, and transport and logistics.

To date the Hodgman Liberal Government has invested $10 million in the Skills Fund program.

The Skills Fund is open to endorsed Registered Training Organisations and closes on Tuesday, 9 April 2019.
