Improvements are on the horizon for boaties with funding secured for upgrades to Mattys Flat reserve and boat ramp facilities.
Kempsey Shire Council has secured almost $2.3 million in funding from the NSW Government's Boating Infrastructure for Communities Program to deliver upgrades to one of the region's key recreational and tourism assets.
This investment will enable substantial improvements designed to enhance the boating experience for local residents, while transforming the site into a more attractive, functional and inclusive destination for visitors and tourism operators alike.
The proposed improvements include:
- Improved traffic flow and expanded parking, more accessible spaces and additional rigging bays
- A new four-bay boat ramp and access pontoon to meet peak demand and support people with limited mobility
- Inclusive features such as wheelchair-accessible fishing platforms, picnic areas and a modernised amenities building
- An upgraded, all-abilities playground and improved landscaping with connected pathways and boardwalk
What happens next?
Before construction begins, Council will refine proposed plans through a public exhibition period and invite feedback from residents and stakeholders.
Please keep an eye on Council's Your Say Macleay website and Facebook page for updates.
We look forward to delivering these transformative upgrades over the coming years.
