325 squadron - Australian Air Force

Goulburn Mulwaree Council

325 (City of Goulburn) Squadron - Australian Air Force Cadets

325 Squadron began as 46 Squadron, Air Training Corps, Royal Australian Air Force on the 24th March 1942 as part of the aircrew training effort during the Second World War.

On the 15th November 1954, the squadron was renamed 25 Flight, Air Training Corps functioning as a youth development unit enjoying Freedom of Entry to the City of Goulburn. Now known as 325 (City of Goulburn) Squadron, Australian Air Force Cadets, a program of youth training administered and sponsored by the Royal Australian Air Force continues unabated to this day.

In September 2020, 325 Squadron sought to reaffirm its Freedom of Entry status, as historical records have been sadly lost over time. On the 6th October 2020, Goulburn Mulwarree Council unanimously voted to affirm 325 Squadron with its Freedom of Entry once again.

Since that day both the Council and 325 Squadron have had numerous attempts to hand over the scroll which records this occasion. However, due to the COVID pandemic and several attempts to reschedule, it has only been now that they can finally complete this declaration which will enable 325 Squadron to exercise its Freedom of Entry at their will.

The handing over of the scroll will take place this Saturday 5th November 2022 at 74a Auburn Street Goulburn. This is a private ceremony and only parents and invited guests are able to attend.
