A driver has died and a passenger has been injured after a crash in the state's south this afternoon.

About 2.40pm (Thursday 29 January 2026), emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, at Marulan, after reports a car had left the roadway and rolled.

Officers from The Hume Police District attended along with NSW ambulance paramedics and Fire and Rescue NSW.

The driver, a man believed to be aged in his 80s, died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The passenger, a woman believed to aged in her 80s, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to hospital.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced.

Southbound lanes of the Hume Highway are impacted, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
