The Netball World Cup will be hosted in Australia for the first time in more than a decade, taking place in Sydney from 25 August to 5 September 2027.
The Australian Government is proud to support the World Cup which is a welcome addition to the green and gold decade of major international sporting events in Australia.
The 6 nations confirmed to compete are:
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Jamaica
- England
- South Africa
- Uganda.
The teams have qualified for the event based on the netball world rankings, as at 1 December 2025. The remaining 10 teams who will be invited to compete at the event will be decided through 5 regional qualifier events in 2026.
The World Cup will be an exciting opportunity to see Australia's record-breaking Diamonds on home soil as the 12-time champions aim to defend their crown.
Netball has the highest participation numbers for women and girls in Australian sport and plays an important role in the community, particularly in rural areas.
The World Cup will coincide with the celebration of 100 years of netball in Australia.
Hosting the event in Australia will provide further visible inspiration for young women and girls to be involved in physical activity and the sports sector.
