81yo man assaulted and robbed at Tugun

Police are investigating after an elderly man was knocked from behind before having his wallet stolen at Tugun this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

The 81-year-old man was about to enter a car in Boyd Street at around 5.30pm when he was punched in the back causing him to fall to the ground. He was then restrained with a knee or elbow in his back whilst his wallet was removed from his pocket.

The unknown offender fled on foot with a sum of cash. The offender is possibly male, tall and wearing a black hooded jumper and dark jeans.

The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or noticed anyone suspicious in the general vicinity to contact them.
