A clean sweep for NPSP's streets

A new street sweeping program has been endorsed by the Council in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

The new program will see an increased frequency of street sweeping as well as the addition of footpath blowing across the City.

Mayor Robert Bria said: "The Council has reviewed the current program to assess both its efficiency and effectiveness and has now developed street sweeping and footpath sweeping schedules that provide greater clarity in terms of the frequency of these services."

Under the new program, local roads will be swept every four weeks instead of every six, and all streets and footpaths with Queensland Box trees will be swept every eight weeks to accommodate the additional sweeping of local streets and footpaths

"Our primary focus with this program is to ensure our streets and footpaths are cleaned in a regular basis. Taking into account different parts of the city which require different types of services depending on the season.

"The Council believes the new program will improve the overall cleanliness of local streets, while at the same time achieve good value for ratepayers. The Council will continue to monitor the impacts of the program to ensure it achieves the desired outcomes," said Mayor Bria.

The new program also introduces leaf and debris blowing to all footpaths across the City, which will take place eight times per year.

The revised program will assist in improving safety for road users and pedestrians, minimise pollutants entering local waterways, and enhance the appearance of the City's streets.
