A comedy wine masterclass at your doorstep

Wine Bluffs

Council's 2019 Arts at Your Doorstep program continues in May with The Wine Bluffs, a comedy wine masterclass with award-winning stand-up comedians Damian Callinan and Paul Calleja.

Ever wondered what wine goes best with fairy bread? Why hasn't the 'Champagne Spider' caught on? These questions and many more will be humorously answered by the self-styled sommeliers of comedy.

Over the highly interactive hour, bogus wine consultants Callinan (Melbourne Fringe Comedy winner and three time Barry Award Nominee) and Calleja (stand-up and writer on Before the Game and countless other TV shows), provide a cellar door experience quite like any other.

Learn how to read a wine aura with Damo and discuss the pairing of food to wine with Paul. Does New Zealand Sav Blanc really go best with a Rainbow Paddle Pop or is that just a waste of a good Paddle Pop?

Once they feel you are ready to graduate from the 'Wine Bluffs Wine Academy of Wine' they will let you test your new-found skills on a 'Virtual Wine Bus Tour' you'll never forget.

This wine masterclass with a twist is showing Saturday 11 May at 7.30pm at the Williamstown Town Hall, 104 Ferguson Street. Tickets from $25-$35 can be booked at www.hobsonsbaytickets.com.au

Bring a hamper with your favourite wine so that you can enjoy the show while nurturing your palette!

Arts at your Doorstep is Council's annual performing arts program, bringing high quality theatre to Council's four cultural venues, and providing opportunities for people who live in the west to experience the best in Australian performance.
