Today, six-year-old Alana Cassells, had her wish of ‘being a police officer’ come true, Queensland Police say.

Officers from Logan District, Polair, the Mounted Unit, Dog Squad, Road Policing Command and Scenes of Crime were only too keen to help make Alana’s dream a reality for just one day.

Alana has bravely been battling leukaemia over the past year and is now in remission.

Having completed her chemotherapy treatments in January, Alana is now on the road to recovery and was ready for a packed day of adventure and learning.

Alana was joined by her little sister Madison, mum and dad, Sarah and Jayson and her Nan, Wendy as she learned the ropes of being an officer.

Her day began at the Gold Coast Polair hanger where she met up with Senior Constable Geoff Harris who who showed her the ins and outs of the chopper.

Learning the ropes

By the end of her tour from Senior Constable Harris, Alana was a pro.

After exploring all there was to see at Polair, Alana and her family travelled back up to Beenleigh Police Station where two horses from the Mounted Unit were waiting for a visit.

Whilst at Beenleigh Alana was able to experience almost every aspect of Queensland policing.

Alana got to hop on a horse, explore the RPC motorbikes, hang out with some pups from the dog squad and finally do some fingerprinting with Scenes of Crime officers.

It was a fantastic day for all involved and the QPS was only too proud to help Alana’s wish come true.
