"A hero who gave everything to keep us safe"

NSW Nationals

Captain Leonardus Fransen, a life member of the Diamond Beach Rural Fire Brigade, tragically lost his life yesterday while fighting the Hudson bushfire in north-western New South Wales.

With great sadness, I extend my condolences to Leo's family; his wife Margaret and children Julia and Paul, as well as his friends, and his entire RFS family.

The pain of his passing is felt deeply by our community.

Leo's commitment to protecting our community, displayed through his service as a volunteer firefighter, is an inspiration to us all.

We honour the memory of Leo Fransen, a hero who gave everything to keep us safe. He will not be forgotten, and we are grateful for his service.
