With cat and dog registration renewals due on 10 April, Council's Local Laws team is door-knocking those who haven't renewed following SMS and mail reminders.
Council will also conduct pro-active inspections on other properties where there may be signs of pets but no corresponding registration.
All dogs and cats over three months old are required to be registered and microchipped.
Being a responsible pet owner and registering your cats and dogs with Council is not only a requirement by law, it also helps reunite owners with their lost pets quickly, prevents animal attacks and nuisance complaints and keep pets safe.
Animal registrations help fund vital services such as lost animals, our 24-hour after-hours service and pro-active responsible pet ownership programs. These all help to reduce animal attacks and nuisance complaints and encourage people to take good care of their pets.
Under the Domestic Animal Act, those who have not renewed their registration or do not register their animals can face fines of more than $300.
If your pet has passed away or has moved to another location, please let Council know so details can be updated.
