Local sport has been given a boost with the recent completion of two new female friendly change rooms at the Keilor Park Reserve in Keilor Park.
Brimbank Mayor Cr Lucinda Congreve officially opened the sports change room facilities on Thursday 8 August, alongside Minister for Crime Prevention, Corrections, Youth Justice and Victim Support, Member for Niddrie, The Honourable Ben Carroll MP.
The completion of the $680,722 football and cricket facility change rooms were funded by Council, with Sport and Recreation Victoria contributing $250,000, and AFL Victoria contributing $33,000 towards the upgrades.
The completion of the $347,336 softball change rooms and social amenity upgrade were funded by Council, with Sport and Recreation Victoria contributing $100,000 towards the construction of the new facilities.
Mayor of Brimbank, Cr Lucinda Congreve said the change rooms are great news for the future of local sports and sports participation in Brimbank.
"This will bring real improvements to the health and wellbeing of our community by continuing to deliver significant social and health outcomes.
"The upgrades will accommodate women, men and juniors – a game changer for year round sport at the reserve.
"These improvements will go a long way in creating clean, safe and accessible facilities to support the growing levels of female sport participation in our community.
"Keilor Park Reserve is a key sporting precinct in Brimbank and these improvements are an important part of ensuring people of all ages, abilities and gender have every opportunity to access and participate in sport.
"Council continues to invest significantly in improving sporting facilities in Brimbank.
"As a responsive Council, we are committed to providing well located and accessible sporting facilities that contribute to the physical, mental and social wellbeing of our community," Cr Congreve said.
