A wonderful Tallent retires

The AIS congratulates Jared Tallent on a wonderful career, spanning three Olympic Games.

Jared has been an inspiration, not just for his athletic success but also for his unwavering integrity and dedication.

Jared was an AIS scholarship holder from 2004-2012 and continued to have a strong association with the AIS particularly through nutrition research and use of AIS facilities, including the AIS European Training Centre in Italy.

Jared, you walk on, leaving a wonderful legacy on Australian sport, and as Australia's most decorated male track and field athlete.

Highlights

  • Four Olympic medals over three Olympic Games, including gold in the 50km Race Walk at the 2012 London Olympics. Jared also claimed: bronze in the 20km walk in Beijing 2008; silver in the 50km walk in Beijing in 2008; and silver in the 50km walk at Rio in 2016.
  • Three-time World Championships silver medallist in 50km (2011, 2013, 2015)
