The Media Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA) welcomes ABC management's acknowledgement that ABC staff need fair pay and secure employment to do their jobs through its revised offer presented to workers today.
MEAA Chief Executive, Erin Madeley, described the offer - which includes a 10.5% pay increase over three years (with year one backdated to Oct 2025), and improved pay-band progression pathways, as a significant improvement following last week's strike action.
"We welcome the improvements that are now on the table to support ABC staff in delivering the quality, independent news and programming that they rely on," Ms Madeley said.
MEAA members at the ABC will vote later this week on whether they will accept the enhanced offer from ABC management.
"MEAA sees this revised offer as an acknowledgement by ABC management that quality news starts with quality jobs for the highly skilled and dedicated workers at the ABC.
"Without them, the ABC cannot deliver local radio, flagship news programs, or its national radio networks.
"Our members at the ABC have been steadfast in their campaign for improved pay and conditions and a sustainable national public broadcaster, and for that they should be applauded", Ms Madeley added.
The revised offer comes after last Wednesday's protected industrial action, where more than 2,000 ABC staff across Australia took part in a 24-hour strike, and Monday's Fair Work Commission hearing, in which representatives of the ABC, MEAA and the CPSU were present.
