Accelerating growth of Northern Ontario's mining supply and services sector

July 19, 2019 - City of Temiskaming Shores, ON - Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario - FedNor

Northern Ontario mining businesses and organizations will benefit from opportunities to showcase their products and services on a world stage at two separate events in 2020. Thanks to a Government of Canada investment of $887,500, through FedNor, the City of Temiskaming Shores is organizing the sixth Northern Ontario Mining Showcase pavilion at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) International Convention in Toronto (March 1-4), as well as a pavilion at the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum (CIM) annual convention that will take place in Vancouver (May 3-6).

Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor.

The two showcase events will increase export opportunities for participating businesses and organizations and enable them to access new markets, explore partnership opportunities and increase sales. In March 2019, approximately 110 Northern companies were featured as part of the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase at PDAC, and had realized sales in excess of $30 million the year before. The CIM event will build on last year's pilot project, giving attending businesses access to new markets in Asia, Northwestern United States, and western Canada.
