Accessing Birubi Headland During Easter Break

Port Stephen

Improving access to Birubi Headland for everyone is a priority during the upcoming holiday period.

The Birubi lower car park will be a controlled opening. A controlled opening means access to the lower car park is managed by on-site stakeholders including the Surf Life Saving Club, local businesses and staff.

Additional services and parking changes are also in place for the duration of the school holidays. As parking is always limited, staff will be on site to support better traffic flow in the top carpark over the Easter long weekend (3 – 6 April 2026). Parking is not permitted on the eastern side of James Paterson Street, Anna Bay, between 6am and 6pm.

Visitors are advised to plan their day and allow extra time for parking and safe access to the headland. To improve traffic flow and safety in Anna Bay, digital signage on Nelson Bay Road now advises visitors to check Live Traffic NSW when planning their journey. There will also be digital parking signs on Gan Gan Road, Anna Bay.

During peak visitation, we will also schedule additional cleaning, waste management and install temporary toilets.
