Acknowledge a dedicated community member today - City of Casey

Do you know a hard-working volunteer who is making a positive impact on our local community?

The City of Casey has opened nominations for the 2019 Casey Volunteer Awards and is calling on you to nominate a person, group or organisation that you believe deserves recognition for their contributions.

Nominations are open until 3.00 pm on Monday 3 June and can be made in the following categories:

• Casey individual volunteer award

• Casey young volunteer award

• Casey volunteering pair award

• Casey volunteer group award

• Casey volunteer organisation award

The volunteer awards are one of Council's most prestigious award programs and acknowledge people who have contributed to and make the Casey community a better place.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Amanda Stapledon encouraged community members to consider a Casey resident, group or organisation that deserve to be recognised.

"The Casey Volunteer Awards are an opportunity for us to recognise our volunteers who invest so many tireless hours for the benefit of our community," Cr Stapledon said.

"Maybe it's your neighbour that has been involved with their local CFA for many years, or a community group that continue to have a profound impact on the people who they assist.

"In the City of Casey, we're very lucky to have a large number of volunteers who are dedicated to making where we live, work or play a better place.

"I would like to encourage you all to consider nominating a person, group or organisation that you believe need recognition for the work they've been doing, including the young people in our municipality who are already making a positive change."

Cr Stapledon added that Council is hoping to receive a high number of nominations in the youth category.

"In particular this year we'd love to see recognition for our young achievers to recognise the many adolescents already actively involved in the community," she said.

"These awards are our way of acknowledging our volunteers who we value so much and giving our residents and community groups the chance to do the same."

The City of Casey has a large variety of volunteer opportunities available.
