ACMA releases 2022-23 research program

The ACMA has released its 2022-23 research program. This research will inform the ACMA's decisions to help maximise the economic and social benefits of communications infrastructure, content and services for Australia.

Each year the ACMA examines a range of issues across the Australian media and communications landscape to give a clearer picture on how current and future developments may impact its regulatory role.

In 2022-23, projects included in the program are:

  • consumer experiences with captioning quality
  • digital platforms reports and complaints research
  • research to support the Telecommunications Consumer Protection (TCP) Code review
  • emerging tech paper - metaverse
  • social casinos
  • market studies - Communications supply chain and deployment of 5G private networks.

The program will also continue the annual series of Communications and media in Australia interactive reports and research snapshots.

The ACMA's research is publicly available and aims to provide an independent source of information for industry and the public about telecommunications, radiocommunications, broadcasting and relevant online services.
