ACN congratulates Coalition on election 2019 win

The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) congratulates the Prime Minister Morrison on regaining government in the 2019 Federal Election.

"On behalf of ACN, I congratulate Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the Coalition for their reappointment to office following the election," said Australian College of Nursing CEO Adjunct Professor Kylie Ward FACN.

"The health commitments made by each of the parties were a major factor of voters' decisions and now the health care vision of the Coalition Government can be realised.

"The nursing profession understands the societal and economic forces that shape Australia's health and aged care systems. It is important for the new Federal Government to address the looming $3.5 billion aged care shortfall, regulating the unregulated health care workforce and provide additional funding and support for nurses in palliative care.

"ACN looks forward to working collaboratively with the Coalition Government on issues that nurses across the country have identified as key priorities."

ACN will seek meetings with the Prime Minister, the Health Minister, the Shadow Health Minister, and other Parliamentarians at the earliest opportunity.
