ACOA investment helps Maritime Cold Storage Ltd scale up and expand operations

From: Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

As the world continues to deal with the impact of COVID-19, New Brunswick companies are adapting operations and seeking new market opportunities to stay on the cutting edge and spur growth. The Government of Canada remains focused on keeping Canadians safe and healthy, while also ensuring businesses and individuals have the support they need during this global health and economic crisis.

Federal investment supports rural economic development

Today, the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Member of Parliament for Beauséjour, announced a repayable contribution of $1.5 million to help Maritime Cold Storage Ltd (MCS) expand its current cold storage facility by 20,000 square feet. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages.

The expanded facility will help the Botsford Portage company meet the demand for cold storage space for seafood, produce and other food products throughout the Maritime provinces. This expansion allows two part-time employees to move into full-time positions, and will create an additional part-time and full-time job once the project is complete.

Today's announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada's commitment to help businesses grow, reach new markets and contribute to Atlantic Canada's economic recovery.
