19 new ACT Policing officers have been welcomed at a graduation ceremony in Barton yesterday.
The new recruits form part of ACT Government's $107 million commitment to recruit an additional 126 new ACT Policing officers over five years.
The two women and 17 men were joined by families and friends, police leadership, trainers, and instructors at the Australian Federal Police College (AFP).
The newly sworn-in officers range in age from 19 to 44 and have previously worked in fields including the Australian Defence Force, Australian Bureau of Statistics, a lifeguard, hospitality, retail, real estate, a behavioural and support worker, a policy and procurement advisor, communication officers and unsworn AFP appointees.
Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Dr Marisa Paterson, congratulated the new officers on the culmination of 27 weeks of intensive training.
"While today marks the end of their training, it is also the beginning of their career of service and dedication to our community.
"Our community now will now be safer and police force better resourced, reinforcing our governments commitment to community safety."
