Griffith Pioneer Park Museum will come alive on Friday 3 April as it celebrates 55 years of its much-loved annual Action Day, inviting the community to experience a vibrant celebration of heritage, entertainment and family fun.
Held on Good Friday, Action Day is the Museum's flagship event and one of the region's most anticipated community gatherings. First held in 1971, it has grown into one of Griffith's most popular family traditions. In 2026, visitors can expect an even bigger and more dynamic program, with working heritage machinery across the grounds, blacksmith displays, shearing exhibitions and an impressive vehicle showcase all set against the Museum's unique historic backdrop.
Families can enjoy a full day of hands-on experiences and entertainment, from traditional crafts and children's activities to bustling market stalls and live music. The popular Dumossa Inn will once again offer refreshments in a relaxed setting for adults, while visitors make their way through Bagtown, where Tangos will be serving free cordial and sweet treats will be available for purchase from Bagtown's first bakery, Hana's Bakery. The Italian Museum Committee and Lions Club of Griffith will also be serving a range of delicious food options to keep visitors fuelled throughout the day.
New for 2026, visitors will be treated to two tractor parades, adding even more movement, noise and nostalgia to the day.
Museum Manager, Jenny O'Donnell-Priest said the 55-year milestone highlights the event's special place in the community.
"For 55 years, Action Day has been part of Good Friday in Griffith," she said.
"It's hands-on, it's exciting, and it gives families the chance to experience history in a way that creates lasting memories."
