Dental Journalism Awards – Two $5,000 Prizes –Enter Now!

The Australian Dental Association (ADA) Excellence in Dental Journalism 2018 Awards are closing on 31 December 2018. Two $5,000 awards will be made – one for electronic media and one for print media (including online publications).

Any journalist who has had a story about dentistry and oral health published in Australia through public print, television or radio in the two years prior to 31 December 2018 is eligible to apply.

As Australia's peak dental organisation, the ADA is committed to promoting good oral health and recognises' the important role the media can play in raising awareness of oral health issues stated ADA President Dr Carmelo Bonanno

"We have seen some great stories on oral health over the past couple of years including the launch of the award-winning Oral Health Tracker. Developed by the ADA and the Australian Health Policy Collaboration, the Tracker is a world first. It provides measurable oral health targets for children, young people and adults, helping us to better understand where we are doing well and where we could do better. Given the link between oral health and preventable chronic diseases like diabetes, this is critically important information.

"There has also been considerable attention directed to poor dental rebates under private health insurance – another topic of great interest to Australian families as they try to balance their budgets in the face of ever-increasing premiums. I am sure there will be a lot of strong entries for these awards."

Nominations close on 31 December 2018.
