A further charge has been laid following the death of a woman in Sydney's Inner West.
On Friday 31 October 2025, police were informed that an 86-year-old woman had presented to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital following an assault.
Officers attached Leichhardt Police Area Command were told at about 8.30am the same day, a man known to the woman entered her home on Derwent Street, Glebe.
The man – employed as the woman's gardener – allegedly assaulted her before leaving the premises.
Later that day, the woman was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
On Sunday 2 November 2025, police arrested a 53-year-old man on Harnett Avenue, Marrickville, before taking him to Newtown Police Station.
The 53-year-old was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 6 on Monday 3 November 2025, where he was granted conditional bail to appear before Newtown Local Court today (Tuesday 18 November 2025).
Police were told about 2.45am Thursday 6 November 2025, the 86-year-old woman died in hospital.
Following inquiries, on Wednesday 12 November 2025, police informed the 53-year-old man's legal representative that a further charge of manslaughter has been laid.
He was formally charged at Newtown Local Court yesterday (Tuesday 18 November 2025) and will reappear at the Downing Centre Local Court Tuesday 20 January 2026.
