Additional charges for Tumut man in possession of explosives

Further charges have been laid after a man was found in possession of explosive devices on the state's far south coast last week.

Last Tuesday, a 66-year-old man was arrested and charged after he was allegedly found in possession of explosive devices while illegally camping near Bermagui.

Following police inquiries, a search warrant was executed at the man's home in Tumut on Friday (1 November 2019) by officers attached to Riverina Police District.

Officers from the NSWPF Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit attended and disposed of a number of items that could allegedly be used to manufacture explosives.

The man was charged with manufacture military style weapon and possess explosives for unlawful purpose.

He was refused bail and is set to appear before Young Local Court on 21 January 2020.
