Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad detectives have laid seven further charges against a man following the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a girl in Sydney's north west last month.
Just before 5.30pm on Tuesday 28 April 2020, a 12-year-old girl was reported missing to police after she failed to meet her family as pre-arranged.
Police were told the girl was at a skate park at Dartford Road, Thornleigh, earlier in the afternoon and was seen leaving with an unknown man and his young child.
Detectives from the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, with assistance from Kuring-Gai Police Area Command, commenced an investigation under Strike Force Kangoo.
Following extensive inquiries, a 37-year-old man was arrested and charged the following day (Wednesday 29 April 2020).
As part of ongoing investigations, strike force investigators laid seven additional charges on the man at Parramatta Local Court yesterday (Thursday 14 May 2020).
The man is now facing a total of 10 charges including;
- aggravated sexual intercourse child aged between 10 and 14 years (x2),
- sexually touch another person without consent,
- aggravated intentionally do sexual act with child aged between 10 and 16 years,
- groom child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity,
- supply prohibited drug (small quantity to child under 16 years by adult),
- drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday 25 June 2020.
Investigations under Strike Force Kangoo are continuing.
