Additional Charges Laid Over Pursuit In Merrylands West

Police have laid additional charges against three men after a second vehicle and more jerry cans were seized following an investigation into a pursuit in Sydney's west earlier this week.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command and Cumberland Traffic and Highway Patrol were called to Regina Street, Greystanes, about 5:15pm (Monday 17 November 2025), after four people wearing balaclavas were seen sitting in a black SUV.

As police approached, the driver allegedly accelerated away and a pursuit was initiated.

Police will allege the vehicle reached speeds of up to 80km/h in 50km/h-signposted streets.

The pursuit was terminated in Paton Street, Merrylands West, after the SUV hit a parked car and the occupants ran from the vehicle.

Two men were arrested a short time later after being chased on foot, while a third was arrested with the assistance of PolAir and the Dog Unit.

The SUV was searched and a loaded shotgun was found under the driver's seat while two jerry cans were found in the rear; checks have revealed the vehicle had been stolen from Balwyn, Victoria.

The three men – aged 19, 20 and 22 – were taken to Granville Police Station where they have since been charged with firearm, vehicle theft and traffic offences.

Following further inquiries, about 4pm on Tuesday 18 November 2025, detectives located a second vehicle – a white SUV – on Memphis Cres, Toongabbie.

Police seized two jerry cans and clothes inside the vehicle, for a forensic examination.

A 19-year-old man was additionally charged with acquire etc firearm – subject to prohibition order, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and take person in custody with intent to commit serious indictable.

A 20-year-old man faced additional charges on participate criminal group contribute criminal activity and take person in company with intent to commit serious indictable.

A 22-year-old man was further charged with participate criminal group contribute criminal activity (two counts), and take person in company with intent to commit serious indictable.

Police will allege the SUV was stolen from a home in Carlingford on Monday 20 October 2025 and the three men are linked to it.

While they were all refused bail, the 20-year-old man is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 13 January 2026.

The other two will face the same court on Thursday 20 November 2025.

Inquiries into the whereabouts of the fourth man are continuing.
