ADF workers in Smithtown

ADF personnel were at Smithtown on Wednesday, along with some heavy machinery, to speed-up the flood recovery effort as part of Operation NSW Flood Assist.

Some of the ADF crew members have travelled down from their homes in Brisbane to respond to the flood disaster in Kempsey Shire.

The ADF crew showed their versality in responding to a range of needs presented after the floods.

They went door knocking throughout Smithtown asking residents what assistance they required.

Some of the jobs they have been tasked with include cutting down trees, getting flood refuse out of houses and disposing of kerbside rubbish.

Working in partnership with Kempsey Shire Council and under the direction of NSW State Emergency Operations Centre, the ADF have been a welcome addition to the flood recovery effort in Kempsey Shire.

Over the coming days, the focus of operations will shift to support isolated rural farms and communities in the mid-north Coast Hinterland.
