ADVISORY: Emergency Exercise in Sydney CBD on Sunday 28 August

A major emergency management exercise will be carried out in the Sydney CBD on Sunday 28 August to test emergency management arrangements in case of an incident in the cit, NSW Police sayy

Exercise ‘Sydney CBD 2016’ is a multi agency emergency management exercise which will be conducted at Barangaroo and will commence at 9:00am and conclude at 2pm.

Sunday’s exercise is part of a preparation and ongoing review process of our emergency arrangements and testing them to ensure they are robust and flexible.

More than 700 personnel will be involved in the exercise including 300 volunteers from a range of agencies and the public to role play family and friends of victims of the incident.

Those involved in the exercise include the NSW Police Force, Fire & Rescue NSW, Roads and Maritime Services, NSW Ambulance, Transport Management Centre, Transport for NSW, City of Sydney Council, NSW Health – Disaster/Crisis, Barangaroo Delivery Authority, the Ministry of Police and Emergency Services, Airservices Australia, Australian Maritime Authority, the State Emergency Service and the Rural Fire Service.

Members of the public who reside in the CBD or planning to go into the city on Sunday 28 August should be aware that there will be road and lane closures in place to facilitate this important exercise.
