AEC Compliance Review Report - MCA 2018-19 Annual Disclosure Return

'This report confirms that the MCA complies fully with the letter and spirit of the disclosure provisions of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918, consistent with the MCA's commitment to transparency and the integrity of the Australian electoral system.

'As an industry association actively participating in public policy debates, the MCA always meets its obligations and supports public disclosure of political donations and electoral expenditure.

'The report concludes that the MCA cooperated fully throughout the 11 month review process and is totally compliant with the new requirements to register and report as a political campaigner under amendments to the Act, one of only 17 organisations to do so.'

'The MCA will submit its 2020-21 Political Campaigner disclosure return in October as required. As this will be the MCA's third successive return declaring zero electoral expenditure as defined in the Electoral Act, the MCA has successfully applied to the AEC to be deregistered as a political campaigner.'
