Hume City's latest state-of-the-art leisure attraction has arrived with the launch of Victoria's first AFL Max entertainment and education centre on Thursday 18 September.
The custom-built facility at Melbourne Airport features indoor footy field, trampolines, climb zones, interactive screens, skill-testing attractions and more for sports clubs, schools and families to enjoy.
Equipped with party rooms, a cafe and kitchen, the AFL Max venue launch offers a fresh take on entertainment for locals and visitors to Hume in time for the September school holidays.
It's the latest tourism experience to land at Melbourne Airport and becoming a major asset to the Hume economy, expecting annual visitation of up to 200,000 people and adding more than 100 jobs.
Much like its Melbourne Airport neighbour URBNSURF – which was Australia's first surf park – AFL Max offers a Victorian-first, unique tourist attraction that will help drive spend and repeat visitation to Hume.
The new addition adds to the reputation Hume City has been steadily building as being a home to some of Victoria's most prominent sports and recreation facilities, along with the State Rugby Centre, and Hume Tennis and Community Centre.
These facilities offer tourism opportunities which are music to the ears of our local businesses, but more importantly they offer experiences that have a whole of community benefit.
Council welcomes the positive impact AFL Max is set to have on the wider visitor economy in Hume by encouraging visitors to stay and explore the many hotels, cafes, restaurants, retail, attractions and parks across the city.
On top of the wide-reaching economic benefits for Hume, locals will have access to physical, educational and socially stimulating activities right in their backyard, with programs aligned with the Australian Curriculum to allow for local schools to participate in programs such as overnight camps and excursions
AFL Max supports Council's vision to deliver entertainment, education, and engaging programs suitable for all ages for a healthy community.
By connecting Council's goals of creating jobs and unlocking economic opportunities throughout Hume to the passion the local community has for footy it's a win-win for schools, kids, sports lovers and the wider community.
