AgForce’s Young Producers’ Council has its Chair

Last week James Henderson was appointed inaugural Chair of AgForce’s Young Producers Council, a group of 18-40 year olds established to raise awareness about what matters to young producers and the challenges they face, and drive change and deliver positive outcomes for those striving to succeed in agriculture.

With his wife Kylie and their three kids, Douglas, Thomas, and Emily, James runs a breeding a background operation on 5400 hectares over three properties in the North Burnett and Central Queensland.

The family has two carbon farming projects on their breeding property and well a small amount of irrigation and dry farming on their backgrounding and finishing properties.

James said it was a privilege to be the Council’s first Chair.

“I’m passionate about farming and about encouraging younger people to embark on a career in agriculture,” James said.

“Being Chair means I guarantee getting to better know each member on the Young Producers’ Council, as well as helping consolidate their individual passions into the Council’s objectives.

“It also means greater representation within AgForce, something I’m really looking forward to.”

The Council will have their first meeting in Rockhampton in early February where they will turn their attention to establishing their key objectives for the year.
